National Cadet Corps (NCC)
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a Tri-Services Organization comprising the Army, Navy, and Air Force, which works towards grooming the youth of India into disciplined, confident, and patriotic citizens. The idea of establishing NCC was born during the Indian independence movement, where the leaders envisioned a platform to prepare young boys and girls to serve the nation with discipline, leadership qualities, and a strong sense of national service.
The first NCC Unit was raised in Delhi on the last Sunday of November 1948, under the leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. Since then, this day is observed annually as ‘NCC Day’ across the country.
